In order to prepare your garden for Autumn, follow some of Elaine’s top tips.

Clear lawns and beds of debris such as dead grass, weeds, fallen leaves and old moss by giving it a gentle raking out leaving no place for pests to hide. Water logging occurs in wet weather. Aerate or spike your lawn in Autumn.

Give your lawn an autumn lawn feed during September, October or November.

Remove dying leaves and fallen stems from herbaceous perennials (plants that will come back the following year).

Tidying borders of your lawn by cutting the edges will make your garden look neat during the winter months – this will make a difference.

Plant Spring flowering bulbs during the months of September, October and November in borders or in pots.

Check for any rotted fence posts and replace wood where needed. Ensure shed roofs don’t leak and repair where necessary before Winter sets in.
